Academic Council

The Academic Council of the Technical University "Metinvest Polytechnic" determines the strategy and perspective directions of development of educational, scientific and innovative activities of the University, develops and submits proposals to the supreme governing body of the University, draft amendments and additions to the Statute of the University, as well as determines the system and approves procedures for internal quality assurance of higher education. The collegial governing body makes decisions on the formation, reorganisation and liquidation of structural units upon the proposal of the Rector of the University, elects by secret ballot the heads of departments, professors and associate professors, library director, heads of branches, approves educational programmes and curricula for each level of higher education and speciality, makes decisions on the organisation of the educational process and determines the terms of study at the relevant levels.

The Academic Council approves the sample and procedure for the production of its own document on higher education, the regulations on the procedure and grounds for its issuance to graduates, as well as samples, the procedure for the production, the procedure and grounds for issuing joint and double diplomas to graduates, approves the main directions of research and innovation activities and evaluates the scientific and pedagogical activities of structural units.

The Academic Council based on decisions taken at the meetings confers titles of professor, associate professor and senior researcher, submits relevant decisions for approval to the certification board of the central executive body in the field of education and science, approves university-wide rules, regulations on structural units of the University and others, and makes changes to them.

The governance board of the University approves the Rules for Admission to the University in accordance with the Terms of Admission to Higher Education Institutions of Ukraine, takes decisions on the recognition of foreign documents on higher education, academic degrees and academic titles when hiring pedagogical, scientific, research and teaching staff and other employees, as well as when enrolling entrants for study, approves the Procedure for competitive selection for filling vacant positions of academic and research staff at the University.

The Academic Council provides recommendations for the publication of collections of scientific papers, scientific journals, monographs, textbooks and study guides, considers other issues of the University's activities in accordance with its Statute

The Administrative and governance board of the University is formed for a term of five years in accordance with Article 36 of the Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education" to address the main issues of the University's activities to ensure the conditions necessary for a person to receive higher education, take advanced training courses, and obtain a second higher education. The Academic Council is headed by its chairman, who is elected by secret ballot from among the members of the Academic Council of the University who have a scientific degree and/or academic (honorary) title, for the term of the administrative governance board activity. Decisions of the Academic Council of the University are put into effect by orders of the Rector of the University.
