Training of specialists
The Department of Materials, Mechanics and Natural Sciences is a scientific and educational environment where the fundamental laws of physics, chemistry, and mechanics are integrated with modern technologies of mining and metallurgical production. It trains a new generation of engineers who understand the nature of materials and processing techniques, are capable of operating and maintaining mechanical equipment, and are able to make well-founded technical decisions in real industrial conditions. The educational process combines theoretical training with practical research, laboratory testing, and the analysis of real production cases.

Practical component
The Department prepares specialists with in-depth knowledge of the structure and properties of metals and alloys, the operating principles of mechanical systems, and the laws governing natural processes. Students master methods for calculating the strength, durability, and reliability of structures; acquire skills in the installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical equipment, including welding and surfacing processes; study mechanisms of material failure; and explore modern materials for the mining and metallurgical industries, as well as methods for their selection, processing, testing, and quality control. Particular emphasis is placed on developing analytical thinking, engineering design skills, experimental competence, and technical communication.
Fundamental Knowledge
The primary objective of the Department is to ensure high-quality training in natural science and engineering disciplines, including materials science, theoretical and applied mechanics, physics, chemistry, strength of materials, and related courses. The Department members implement the educational process through a combination of lectures, laboratory and practical classes, computational and graphical assignments, and research projects, emphasizing the application of knowledge in the mining and metallurgical sector and preparing students for professional activity in modern industrial environments.
